PAPA, I NEED YOU

Emotional Intelligence and Your Young Child

A long time ago- No no no, I am not talking about an old story here. By the way, have you read the newspaper in the morning? Did you read yesterday? I am sure you did. Since you are reading my article, you must be into reading. So I want to draw your attention to a particular issue that is common, critical, and most important to all parents.

Yes, you guessed it right. I am talking about the mental health of today’s young generation.

According to The New Indian Express (THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 26 OCT 20) “As per the statistics available with the police, 173 children died by suicide till September 30 this year, while the figure for the whole of last year was 142.

I am asking you, who is responsible for all of this? I am sure you are providing all necessities to your young kids, perhaps you over-pamper them. You are sending them to big schools, shop all big brands for them, holidays trips, birthday celebrations, you are trying your best for them.

Is that all? let me ask these questions you.

  • Are you taking care of your child’s mental health?
  • Do you know what is his or her thought pattern?
  • What are the possible reasons for his compulsive aggressive behavior?

I always talk about how emotional intelligence plays a pivotal role in our lives and how it is more important for children who are still in schools. Every day a new app is launched, I call it “The App- Era”. Excessive use of social media is causing low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, hampering their overall development.

I am here to talk about a solution, that is increasing their Emotional intelligence level so they can:

  • express & control their Emotions.
  • be assertive and can say NO when required.
  • differentiate between right & wrong
  • empathize with others
  • face failure gracefully and restart
  • show more confidence

Let me know, what step do you take to nurture your child’s mind.
